I've contacted my ISP, they deleted the account and created a new one with all the correct settings and assure me they have done all they can. All my contacts are in "People" and when starting a new message the recipient (To:) auto fills (in blue).

Mar 26, 2013 · The error message says that you don't have an outgoing mail server selected. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and select the gmail account in the left hand panel. Next go to "Outgoing Mail Server" : It should read smtp.gmail.com if you are using pop.
There are no options or setting and no way to send your email. In our case, we had (2MB each) image attachments, so that could be related. The most common solution is to either force stop the Gmail app, or even faster, close the Gmail app and open it again. Our emails sent immediately, with no user intervention, after restarting the Gmail app.
